Resources for primary schools

We are working with the Museum of London’s Learning Department to develop some study materials for primary school children and teachers interested in life in Victorian Britain (Years 5 and 6). Using the evidence gathered for each of our three study sites, the study materials will offer children in London schools a unique insight into life in their locality around 150 years ago. The resources – which will include learning materials in electronic format and boxes of archaeological artefacts that can be loaned from the Museum – have been developed to address specific History units at Key Stages 1 and 2 in the National Curriculum:

QCA Unit 11: What was it like for children living in Victorian Britain?
QCA Unit 12: How did life change in our locality in Victorian times?

This work is currently in progress, with the materials being piloted in conjunction with primary schools within a one mile radius of our sites. It is envisaged that the resources will be fully available in January 2009, so please check back soon.
