Undergraduate Photography Competition 2008

In the autumn term of 2008, the Department of Geography held an undergraduate photography competition. Students submitted digital images in the following categories: Natural Environments, Urban spaces, Healthy/Unhealthy Environments, Living with Pollution and The New East End. The best entries are displayed in the Department and may feature on the website and in future publicity material. Prizes of Amazon vouchers to the value of £50, £30 and £20 were awarded to the top three entries, as judged by a panel of departmental staff.

At What Cost?

First place: Thomas Wooldridge
A tyre fire on the 2012 Olympic games site send up plumes of smoke, while a cyclist carries on his journey unabated.


India, Bangalore

Second place: Lauradana Day
A very special city. This image was taken outside a boy’s orphanage (MAK) in Bangalore.

Third place: Gemma Greenhalgh
Icebergs on a lake in front of the Breidamerjurjokull outlet glacier in southern Iceland, location of the Extreme Environments field trip.
