Information for new students

Welcome to the School of Geography at QMUL. Below you'll find lots of useful information and links to help you prepare for the start of term.

Induction, Enrolment and other useful information 

  • Download the Postgraduate Induction Programme (updated 14.09.17) [PDF 291KB] which has all the timings and other information you need ahead of starting with us.
  • Enrolment for postgraduate taught students will take place on Wednesday 20 September from 12.30–12.45pm in the Octagon in the Queens' Building (no. 19a on the campus map). 
  • More enrolment information is available here. Please ensure that you check your emails for your individual time slot for enrolment. 
  • Enrolment for postgraduate research students will take place on Monday 25 September between 9.00am–12.00pm, also in the Octagon. 
  • Handbooks, timetable and other useful information are located on the Masters Information Zone as well as the PhD Information Zone on QMplus, which you will gain access to once you've enrolled.
  • Personal timetables for taught students will also be available online or via QMUL mobile app. Download the app and read your QMUL emails, search for library books, use QMplus and more – all in one place. 

General Queen Mary Welcome Week information

  • Welcome Week for all new students runs from Monday 18 to Friday 22 September and is an opportunity for you to get to know the university, meet with fellow students, find out about the Students' Union and the support available to you, join clubs and societies, and more. 
  • Are you new to east London? Join some of the orientation events and walking tours where you can meet other QMUL students, make new friends, and explore the local area together. 
  • You are welcome to attend any welcome events, orientation for international students or Students' Union events but please ensure that you attend the School of Geography Postgraduate Induction programme as priority
  • A separate Postgrad & Mature Students Welcome event will also be held in Ground café on Thursday 21 September
  • Watch a short film on 'Starting at Queen Mary'. 
  • Find out about the Geography Society and meet the team at the Welcome Fair on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter
