Information for new students

Welcome to the School of Geography at Queen Mary. Below you'll find lots of useful information and links to help you prepare for the start of term.

Induction, Enrolment and other useful information 

  • Download the Postgraduate Induction Programme 2019 [PDF 630KB] which has all the timings and other information you need ahead of starting with us.
  • You will have been sent an email detailing your individual slot for September enrolment. If you have missed this enrolment date, please see our 'Late or missed enrolment' section for details on what to do. The deadline for Queen Mary enrolment is Friday 4 October 2019. More information about enrolment is available here
  • Enrolment for postgraduate research students will take place on Monday 23 September in the Octagon, Queens’ Building. 
  • Handbooks, timetable and other useful information are located on the Masters Information Zone as well as the PhD Information Zone on QMplus, which you will gain access to once you've enrolled.
  • Personal timetables for taught students will also be available online or via QMUL mobile app. Download the app and read your QMUL emails, search for library books, use QMplus and more – all in one place. 

General Queen Mary Welcome Week information

  • Welcome Week for all new students runs from Monday 16 to Friday 20 September and is an opportunity for you to get to know the university, meet with fellow students, find out about the Students' Union and the support available to you, join clubs and societies, and more. 
  • Are you new to east London? Join some of the orientation events and walking tours where you can meet other QMUL students, make new friends, and explore the local area together. You are welcome to attend any welcome events and activities, orientation for international students or Students' Union Freshers' events, but please ensure that you attend the School of Geography Postgraduate Induction programme as priority
  • Find out about the Geography Society and meet the team at the Students' Union Welcome Fair on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September, and follow them on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

  • Revision week: 30-3 April

Dissertation hand-in deadline: Friday 21 August 2020
