The oval, double walled pollen
grain of Filipendula ulmaria has a regularly micro-echinate
surface and three short furrows with small pores (Andrew
1984). Columellae are aggregated in to lines or are roughly
C-shaped. It has narrow, transverse endocolpi at the equator
of the grain (Moore, et al. 1991). The pollen grain of
F. vulgaris is too similar to be distinguished.
