• Dr Jon May has been appointed to Chair the Urban Geography Research Group of the RGS-IBG
  
• Professor Andy Baird has been invited to membership on the NERC Peer Review College (for three years from 1st June 2006 to 30th May 2009).
  
• Dr Jon May has been appointed as a Sub-Editor on Blackwell's new electronic journal - Geography Compass, responsible for submissions in Social Geography.
