Undergraduate Photography Competition
16 December 2011
The School of Geography is holding a photograph competition for undergraduate students. We would like to see your pictures and use them to encourage other people to come and study Geography and Environmental Science at Queen Mary.
The entries should complete the statement 'Studying Geography at Queen Mary opened my eyes to...'. The picture could relate to something new your course has brought your attention to, or a new way of seeing something familiar. It might relate to how you see the social world or the physical environment, to something at home or far away. Your picture should be accompanied by a brief statement (100 words max) which gives an explanation of what is being shown.
The prizes for the three winning entries will be:
First prize: £50 Amazon voucher.
Second prize: £30 Amazon voucher.
Third prize: £20 Amazon voucher.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on 1st February 2012, by emailing your entry (picture and explanation identified by your student number) to firstname.lastname@example.org
All images submitted must be in jpg format with at least 300 dpi (dots per inch). Most cameras (including mobile phone cameras) are able to support this format. Each student can submit one entry. Entry to the competition assumes that you confirm that:
- The submitted image was taken by you, and you pass copyright over to the School.
- The School is free to use your image on its website and in any other publicity.
- The submitted image is not offensive or obscene.
Entries will be judged and prizes awarded by a panel from the School (some of whom are photographers too): Tim Brown, Jon May, Miles Ogborn, Ed Oliver, Kate Spencer and Marta Timoncini.
We look forward to seeing your pictures.
