Professor Andrew Baird, appeared on the BBC1

Professor Andrew Baird, appeared on the BBC1 programme Climate Change - Britain Under Threat programme presented by Sir David Attenborough. Professor Baird discussed the danger presented to the global climate by the release of methane from melting permafrost bogs in Western Siberia. Professor Baird was filmed on a Welsh bog (one of his research sites) to illustrate the process of methane release. Methane is an important greenhouse gas that is approximately 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide and is formed by anaerobic decay of peat.
