Population
Dynamics and the Spatial Modelling of Health and Health
Care
This
subgroup includes researchers that combine both qualitative
and quantitative research methods in their investigations
into population and household change, and health inequalities
& health care. Members of this group have devised
revolutionary and now internationally renowned spatial
and statistical techniques for modelling variations in
health, and health services provision and in investigating
the crucial role that population and demographic change
is playing in shaping health outcomes for the local and
national populations. Research undertaken in this group
has involved analyses of the impact of urban and regional
migration on human health, the analysis of longitudinal
health data and psychiatric health need, health service
research including by innovative use of GIS technologies
and the relationship between adolescent health and neighbourhood
change. The group has very well established and productive
links with the NHS and health policy makers in London,
and currently hosts two visiting research associates with
NHS funding. The group has also developed a close collaborative
working relationships with Departments of Medical and
Biomedical Science at leading London universities.
