The School's PhD program begins in September of each year.

Semester dates are set centrally by College. Within this the School tries to organise its graduate teaching timetable (including its Training program) to meet the needs of both full time and part time students, for example by ring fencing teaching slots as far as is possible. School research seminars are held weekly during term-time on Tuesdays at 12.15–1.30. Research frameworks in Human Geography are usually scheduled for Thursdays, late afternoons.  Reading groups and research theme meetings are held at different times throughout each semester, by the agreement of members.

Semester 2: 7 January to 28 March 2013 

Semester 3: 22 April to 7 June 2013
