The School is pleased to announce the following funding opportunities for applicants wishing to commence a PhD in September 2012:

AHRC Studentship
The School is seeking to appoint 1 fully funded AHRC Studentship, commencing September 2012. The Studentship is being made available through the Queen Mary Block Grant. The Studentship covers tuition fees and a standard maintenance grant of £15,590 p.a. for three years.

AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award
The School is seeking to appoint 1 fully funded AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award, commencing September 2012. The Studentship covers tuition fees and a standard maintenance grant of £15,590 p.a. for three years.

ESRC Studentships:
The School is seeking to appoint up to 3 fully funded ESRC Studentships, commencing September 2012. The Studentships are being made available as part of the 10 being offered by the Goldsmiths and Queen Mary ESRC Doctoral Training centre. Studentships are available on a 1+3 (for those wishing to undertake an MRES degree, moving on to a PhD) or +3 basis (for those already holding an ESRC recognised Masters degree, and wishing to move straight to PhD study), and cover tuition fees and a standard maintenance grant of £15,590 p.a. Applications are especially welcome from those wishing to utilise a quantitative methodology, and for whom an additional Advanced Quantitative Methods Stipend of £3000 per annum is available.

Queen Mary Studentships:
The School has 3 full funded Queen Mary Studentships to award for the academic year commencing September 2012. Queen Mary Studentships comprise the full cost of (home or overseas) fees and £15,590 a year for maintenance for 3 years. For further details of each award please see Funded PhDs for 2011-12 Entry


Erasmus Joint Doctoral Programme 
The School shares an Erasmus Joint Doctoral Programme on 'Science for Management of Rivers and their Tidal Systems (SMART)' with the University of Trento, Italy and the Free University of Berlin, Germany. There is funding available for 7 doctoral training positions in River Science. Further details including information on how to apply are available through the programme website (www.riverscience.eu). NERC Studentships
