Moving On: Further Study
Many of our previous Masters students have gone on to undertake PhD research within the School.
Details of the PhD application process can be found here.
Examples of current work carried out by PhD students in our School can be found here.
Entry to the School's PhD programme is usually dependent upon an Upper second class degree or equivalent in Geography or a cognate discipline. All applicants will be judged according to the same criteria:
- academic and professional achievement
- quality of research proposal
- compatibility with Queen Mary's research strengths
ESRC
Our MA/MSc Geography, Cities and Cultures and Globalisation and Development programmes are recognised under the ESRC's 1+3 funding regime, enabling those who wish to continue on from their masters work to doctoral research to apply for funding to cover both their MA/MSc and PhD.
